Curriculum: |
The District's curriculum is broadly based, reflecting an interest in the academic, social, emotional, artistic, and physical development of students. Extended programs are offered to provide for exceptionally talented students, as well as those with Special Education needs.
An At-Risk Pre-K progrm is operated by the district. Kindergarten (both half and full-day) through 8th grade are located in the elementary building and incorporates a comprehensive traditional basic program along with vocal and instrumental music, physical education, and art. 7th and 8th grade students are taught in a modified departmentalized setting, being assigned to a homeroom and moving from class to class as a group.
Winchester High School offers traditional, college prep, and vocational courses, Electives include vocal and instrumental music, art, art and music appreciation, and horticulture, to list just a few. An IBM computer lab is available for student use, and a strong cooperative vocational experience program is in place, with support from the Two-Rivers Area Vocational Cooperative.
Special classes offered include Chapter 1, Cross Categorical (three elementary sections), LD and Intermediate BD, Early Childhood, Physically Impaired, Secondary BD and EMH students are transported out of district. |
